Gordon Sanders, 78 years, 0 months, and 9 days old, passed away on February 17, 2016 at his home in Ava, MO.

Gordon was born February 8, 1938 in Sargent, NE at the home of George and Mary Hale to Loyd W. and Alma (Starke) Sanders . He grew up in Loup County Nebraska. He attended one room school houses, Goldenrod School District # 38 and Lone Star School District # 28. He moved to Ava, Missouri in the fall of 1952 with his parents. He graduated from Ava High School and had attended the University of Missouri. Gordon was a retired Inspector with the Missouri Highway Department. He had worked for Dept. for over 30 years. He was a Veteran and served with the U. S. Army.

On March 23, 1962 Gordon and Glenda Smith were united in marriage in Ava, MO.

He was a Christian and a member of the Walnut Grove General Baptist Church. Gordon enjoyed fishing, woodworking, mowing the lawn, cutting wood, blue grass music, deer hunting, playing pitch and being with his family and friends.

Gordon was preceded death by his parents and one son, Terrell (Terry) Lynn.

Gordon is survived by his wife, Glenda Sanders, Ava, MO, two children; Debbie Nelson and husband, Bob, Springfield, MO, and Gary Heatherly, Ava, MO, his brother, Terrell R. and wife, Janet Sanders, Burwell, NE, his sister, Sharon Sanders, Burwell, NE and many other relatives and friends.

Cremation services are being conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO Burial of cremains will be in the Mt. Tabor Cemetery at a later date and time. Memorials may be made to Walnut Grove General Baptist Church, Ava, MO.
