Gwendolyn Eloise Barrett Sproat, 89, formerly of Drury, MO, died February 25, 2012, at her home in Highlands, NC. A memorial service will be held Thursday, March 1, 2012 at 2:00 pm, at the cemetery at Saddle Rock Ranch in Drury, MO. All of her friends from this area are welcome. Services are being conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO.
She was born July 11, 1922 in Kampsville, IL and formerly lived in Drury, MO with her husband, Howard E. Sproat. Mrs. Sproat is survived by her daughter, Gwendolyn Lee Messer and son-in-law, Barry Messer and Carolyn Pitt, a daughter and Wood Sproat, a son. Granddaughters, Gwendolyn Jeanne Messer and Kathryn Lee Messer, a grandson, James Barrett Messer, and grandchildren, Jessica and Mateal Lovaas, Gwenna Pitt, Rusty Sproat and Linda Brooks. Her great-grandchildren, Christopher, Emily, Matthew, Johnathan, Michael, Jack, Max, Clare, Alessandro, Lucas, Maggie, Joe, and Gus, her sister, Claudine Cox, her brother, Elvis Barrett, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard E. Sproat, her parents, Winifred & Claudius Barrett, her brother Patrick and her sister, Alta.
