H.A. Rhoads

H.A. Rhoads, 88 years, passed to heaven on May 8, 2010 at Ozark Riverview Manor, Ozark, MO.

H.A. was born July 28, 1921 in Ocie, MO to Burt and Alta (Baxter) Rhoads.


H.A. was a farmer and a retired U.S. mail carrier. He was a resident of Oldfield just over a year moving from Bradleyville, MO. He was born and raised in Ozark County. On June 8, 1940 Alma Cole and H.A. were united in marriage in Ocie, MO and to this union two daughters were born. Alma preceded in death in 1989. Later on H.A. and June (Herd) Hammons were united in marriage on June 27, 1990 in Miami, OK. H.A. was a member of the Salem General Baptist Church in Ocie for over 50 years. He later attended with June, the Union Grove Church near Crossroads, MO. H.A. loved being with children and people in general. He enjoyed being in the outdoors with his cattle and horses and Blue Grass festivals. His greatest pleasure in life was his grandchildren and great grandchildren.


H.A. was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Alma in 1989, two brothers, Carl and Stanford Rhoads and a grandson, Ronald Lynn Tabor.

H.A. is survived by his wife, June Rhoads, Oldfield, MO, four children and their spouses, Betty Sue & Wendel Tabor, Theodosia, MO, Sandy & Jeff Sommer, Kansas City, MO, Wanda & Gale Osburn, and Bob & Dee Hammons, all of Oldfield, MO, nine grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, one brother, Bob Rhoads, Springfield, MO, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for H.A. will be Tuesday, May 11, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO with burial in the Lutie Cemetery, Theodosia, MO. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 11, 2010 from 1:00 p.m. to service time in the funeral home. Officiating will be Rev. Gale Osburn and Rev. Wendell Daugherty. Memorials may be made to Lutie Cemetery.
