Harold  Menzies

Clever, Missouri

Harold Eugene Menzies, 87 years, 4 months, passed peacefully to Heaven on, August 12, 2025 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, MO.

On April 12, 1938, Harold was born in Roy, MO, (Douglas County), to Hubert Harold and Zella Naomi (Brake) Menzies.

On July 20, 1960, Harold and Juanita Mae Comer were united in marriage at Sandy General Baptist Church by the Reverend Glesco Roberts. They were blessed with two sons, Van and Doug.

Harold was raised in Douglas County and graduated from Ava High School in 1957. Harold loved playing football and basketball for the Ava Bears. He started working for the Missouri State Highway Department in Ava, and in 1960 he transferred to Springfield, MO. He retired as a Resident Engineer after 41 years of service.

He was a Christian and attended Sandy General Baptist Church most of his life.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and attending his boys' and grandchildren's ballgames!

Harold was not shy. He loved people and delighted in telling wonderful stories! If you knew Harold, you knew you were going to laugh and have fun.

He went about life to do the best he could do for the Lord, to work hard, and to have a good time doing it! His legacy will live on in his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Lucille Gunnels; and many of his in-laws.

Harold is survived by his wife, Juanita; his sons and their wives, Van and Rhonda Menzies, and Doug and Tammy Menzies; seven grandchildren, Cody, Taylor, Abigail, Samantha, Seth, Abbey, and Casey; his sister and husband, Bonita and Paul Plake; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and many friends.

Funeral services for Harold will be Saturday, August 16, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. in the Clinkingbeard Chapel, Ava, MO, with burial following in the Mt. Tabor Cemetery, Ava, MO. Visitation will be Friday, August 15th from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Officiating will be Pastor Van Menzies and Pastor Neal Crum. Family requests memorials to the Gideon's International.
