HAROLD DEAN STRAIN
Harold Dean Strain, 83, of Gainesville, MO died October 10, 2020. He was able to be home and passed away surrounded by his loving family. He was born November 26, 1936 in Clarkridge, AR to Jess William and Della Jane (Standage) Strain.
On November 15, 1958 Harold was united in marriage to Velma Blacksher. To this union four sons were born. Harold worked for many years in the concrete business. He worked on the St Lawrence Seaway in New York, the Yellowtail Dam in Montana, jobs in Alabama as well as many other out of state jobs. In 1967 he came home and started his own concrete business in the Mtn Home area.
Harold farmed his entire life and was an avid gardener. He enjoyed canning and gave as much as he could to anyone that loved fresh vegetables. He took so much pride in his garden. He raised and trained border collies and enjoyed training each one. He loved having his family around him and his grandkids meant the world to him. He always had a smile for everyone. He loved bluegrass music and enjoyed playing his fiddle and guitar.
Harold was a true believer in Jesus Christ and he knew the Lord.
He is survived by his wife Velma Strain; four sons Joey Strain and wife Wenona, Mark Strain and wife Yvonne, Robby Strain and wife Michele, Michael Strain and wife Holly; nine grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; one brother Arnold Strain and wife Ruth of Clarkridge, AR; and a host of family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; seven brothers; and three sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at the Mammoth Assembly of God Church. Visitation will be Wednesday afternoon from 1:00 p.m. to service time at the church. Burial will be in the Howards Ridge Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, PO Box 7023, Merrifield, VA 22116-7023. Arrangements are being conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Gainesville, MO.
