HELEN CLAIRE BEARD
Helen Claire Beard passed away Friday, March 9, 2007 at Hospice House in Mountain Home, Arkansas. at the age of 67 years. Helen was born on December 16, 1939 in Granite City, Illinois to Dr. Vladimir K. Geroff and Dorothy (Michel) Geroff. A graduate of Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Illinois, Helen then went on to receive her Masters Degree from Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville, Illinois. On May 9, 1964 Helen and Ronnie Beard were married in Granite City, Illinois. Helen and Ronnie lived in various cities in the Midwest, 17 years in Edwardsville, Illinois before moving to Pontiac, Missouri, 12 years ago to spend their retirement. A teacher and homemaker, Helen was a member of the Theodosia United Methodist Church where she was in the choir, PEO Sisterhood, and Pontiac Ladies Club, Helen loved being with family and friends. She also enjoyed gardening, decorating her home, feeding the birds, warm weather and water related activities (pool, lake, ocean), and travel. Helen's family was from Macedonia, now a province of Greece, and Helen loved making her family aware of the Macedonian traditions.
She is survived by her Husband Ronnie Beard of Pontiac, Missouri; son Lance Beard of Clarksville, Maryland; daughter Sarah Guidorzi and husband Michael of Fenton, Missouri; grandsons Douglas and Andrew Guidorzi of Fenton, Missouri; brothers Dr. Chris Geroff originally of Granite City now living in Pontiac, Missouri and Gary Geroff of Granite City, Illinois; step mother Ruth M. Geroff of Granite City, Illinois.
Helen is preceded in death by her parents Dr. Vladimir and Dorothy Geroff, and step sister Jeanette Rains.
Funeral Services will be Tuesday, March 13, 2007 at 10:00 AM, Clinkingbeard Funeral Home in Gainesville, Missouri with Pastor Pam Ekey. Visitation will be Monday evening 6-8 PM at the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home. Services in Glen Carbon, Illinois will be a Graveside Service Thursday, March 15, 2007 at 10:00 AM at Sunset Hill Cemetery ; visitation Wednesday Evening 6-8 PM, at Irwin Chapel of Glen Carbon.
Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army in care of either Funeral Home in lieu of flowers or a charity of the sender's choice.
