Hilda J. Jenkins, of Springfield, MO., 90 years, passed to heaven on August 6, 2009 at Christian Health Care of Nixa, MO with her family by her side.
Hilda was born December 14, 1918 in Pansy, MO to James and Maggie (Stone) Gastineau.
In 1935, Hilda and Thetis V. "T.V" were united in marriage in Douglas County, MO and to this union three children were born. Hilda and "T.V." established the Jenkins Oil Co. in Ava, MO in the mid 1940's. They later moved to Springfield in 1957.
Hilda was a Seamstress in Springfield, MO and retired after working for over 20 years. She enjoyed her little dog, Toodles. She also enjoyed her flowers and gardening.
Hilda loved being with her family and cooking for them. She was a Christian and of the Baptist faith.
Hilda was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Thetis V. "T.V." in 1981, a son, Dean Jenkins in 2008, three brothers, Charlie, Richard "Dick" and Kenneth "Pete" Gastineau.
Hilda is survived by a son and wife, Chester & Iris Ann Jenkins, Rogersville, MO, a daughter and husband, Carol & Cliff Edwards, Springfield, MO,
eight grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren, two sisters, Jessie McCain, Lake Jackson, TX and Peggy Francisco, Sarasota, FL, numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Graveside services for Hilda will be Monday, August 10, 2009, 10:00 a.m. at the Ava Cemetery, Ava, MO. Officiating will be Rev. Tom Johnson. Family requests any memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Hilda was an 11 year Cancer Survivor. Services are being conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO.
