HILDA L. SIMPSON
Funeral services for Hilda L. Simpson, 72, of Howards Ridge will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 6, 2013, at Clinkingbeard Funeral Home in Gainesville, MO. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Simpson died June 3 at National Health Care in West Plains.
She was born Jan. 22, 1941, in Gainesville, the daughter of Norman Carter and Mamie Carter-Strong. On March 21, 1959, she married James E. Simpson in Willow Springs.
Mrs. Simpson worked at Baxter Lab for many years before her retirement. She enjoyed gardening and working with her flowers. Her pies, hot rolls and chicken and dumplings will be long remembered by friends and family, especially her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, of Howards Ridge; two sons, Jeffery Simpson of Mountain Home, Ark., and Greg Simpson and wife Shaun of Howards Ridge; two grandsons, Kyle Simpson of Howards Ridge and Anthony Cole Hughes of Mountain Home; two granddaughters, Kristen Simpson of Howards Ridge and Holly Simpson of Mountain Home; brother Gene Carter and wife Marveloi of Clarkridge, Ark.; brothers- and sisters-in-law Roger Long and wife Lanell, Wayne Cobb and wife Sue, Johnny Simpson and wife Betty; one sister, Jaunita Neeley of New Mexico; two aunts, Velma Strain and Ruby Gilmore; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one half-brother, Winifred Carter.
Burial will be in Howards Ridge Cemetery.
