Hildred Lodene Hammons, 79 years, 2 months, and 11 days old, passed to heaven on April 25, 2013 at Life Care Nursing Home in Grandview, MO.

Lodene was born February 14, 1934 in Breeden, MO to Ellis and Bertha (Nelson) Lafferty.

Lodene and Alfred Hammons were united in marriage on December 3, 1949 at Highlonesome, MO. To this union four children were born.

Lodene loved gardening, crocheting, listening to gospel music, and taking nature walks. She especially enjoyed raising cattle with Alfred, even naming a few of them.
Lodene loved spending time with her family and especially loved being with children.

Lodene was preceded by her parents, husband Alfred in 2009, a son Dallas, two sisters, Mildred Irene and Ruth Lafferty and two brothers, Melvis and Melvin Lafferty.


Lodene is survived by her children Charles Hammons, and wife Donna, Raymore, MO, Lodena Faye Lane and husband Joseph, Grandview, MO, Judy K. Harris, Lee Summit, MO, five grandchildren, 1 great grand-child, a brother, Joe Lafferty, Ava, MO, three sisters, Ethel May Johnson, Brighton, MO, Marie Stafford, Davenport, IA, and Ruby LaJeune, Lake Charles, LA, many friends and other relatives


Funeral services for Lodene will be Monday, April 29, 2013, 2:00 p.m., at Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO with burial in the Stillings Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, April 29, 1:00 p.m. until service time. Officiating will be Pastor Charles McFarland.
