Obituary

Howard Clyde McGill, 98, passed to heaven on December 6, 2010 at the Heart of the Ozarks Healthcare.

Howard was born December 3, 1912 in Squires, MO. to William McGill and Minnie Belle (Miller) McGill. He left home at the age of 16 going to Wyoming where he worked on many ranches breaking horses and driving cattle, later Howard worked in Washington at a highly secured facility where he worked on the assembly of the Atomic bomb. Starting in 1945 he went to work under the International Union of Operating Engineers where he was a heavy equipment operator helping build many hydro-electric dams across the west. He retired and moved back to Ava in 1987. Howard started his day at McDonald's where he was a charter member of the coffee club often arriving as it opened. He'd then stop by Cooper Lumber on his way home where he worked with petrified wood and stone, polishing and carving and setting the stone in jewelry and belt buckles.


He was a member and attended the St. Francis Anglican Church in Ava.


Howard and Wilma Rabe were marriage in 1940 and she preceded him in 1987, in 1989 Howard married Billie Malloy and she passed in 2009, he was also preceded by his parents, 2 brothers and 3 sisters.


Howard is survived by three sisters Jean Daugherty of Ava, MO. Mary Jones and husband Ora Lee of Manitou, Ok, and Mabel Everett, of Ava,two Step Daughters, Carol Ginger and husband Jim of Willis, VA and Pat Syens and her husband Scott Johnsburg, IL. Howard is also survived by step-grand and step-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.



Funeral services for Howard will be Saturday, December 11, at 10:00 A.M. in the Clinkingbeard Chapel, with burial in the Springcreek Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 till 10:00 in the funeral home. Officiating will be Rt. Rev. Glen Dale Hartley. Memorials may be made to Springcreek Cemetery or the donors choice of charity.
