Howard Lee McSwain, 68 years, passed away on September 27, 2009 at Cape Girardeau, MO.
Howard was born March 2, 1941 in Ozark County, MO to Kerman and Irene (Smith) McSwain.
Howard was a veteran and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He worked at Rawlings Sporting Goods in Ava, MO for nearly 20 years. Howard enjoyed hunting, fishing, working on cars and building on his house. He also liked repairing and building machinery. He was a member of the Church of Christ and loved reading his Bible.
Howard was preceded in death by his mother, Irene.
Howard is survived by his father, Kerman O. McSwain, Ava, MO, three sisters and their spouses, Jewell Blake, South Dakota, Evelyn & Kenny Adams and Kimberly & Scott Morgan all of Ava, MO, three brothers and their spouses, Junior & Janet McSwain, Tom & Judy McSwain and Gene McSwain all of Ava, MO, many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Howard will be Wednesday, September 30, 2009, at 10:00 a.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO with burial in the Ava Cemetery with military honors by Ava American Legion Post #112 and VFW #5993. Visitation will be Wednesday, September 30, 2009 from 9:00 a.m. to service time in the funeral home. Officiating will be Rev. Oren Alcorn and Rev. Tom Hawkins.
