INA GERTRUDE COCKRUM
Ina Gertrude Cockrum, 93, of Gainesville, MO passed away May 3, 2019 at the Gainesville Healthcare Center. She was born March 23, 1926 in Oakland, AR, the daughter of David Lawrence and Laura Zona (Lantz) Taylor.
Gertrude grew up around Oakland, AR and graduated from Gainesville High School. On July 7, 1950 she was united in marriage to Doyle Cockrum in Mountain Home, AR. The couple moved to Wichita, KS to find work. While there she worked for Boeing Aircraft. Around 1958, they moved their family back to Gainesville and she went to work for selective service. After many years there, she then worked for P.C.A. (production credit association). After retirement she became Post Master at the Noble Post Office.
Gertrude attended church for many years at Calvary Baptist in Gainesville. She was saved and baptized there when she was in her 60's. She loved her family and adored her kids and grandkids. She loved shopping and camping. Some of her favorite times were spent with friends playing and listening to bluegrass music on camping trips.
She is survived by one daughter Sherri Wilson and husband Rod of Gainesville, MO; six grandchildren Dustin Hudson (Renee), Mindi Lawson (Andy), Kase Wilson (Blakely), Kyle Wilson (Uzma), Ellie Cockrum, and Josh Cockrum; three great grandchildren Colton Lawson, Rhett Lawson, Luke Wilson; her sister Nadine Johnson; brother-in-law Bill Cockrum (Lana); sister-in-law Ann Kruse; and daughter-in-law Dianne Cockrum and several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Doyle Cockrum; son Craig Cockrum; brother Chester Taylor; and three infant sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 8, 2019 in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home chapel, Gainesville, MO with Dale Roberts officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday afternoon from 1 p.m. to service time. Burial will be in the Lilly Ridge Cemetery. The family asks for memorial contributions to be made to Three Rivers Hospice, or Alzheimer's Association. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Gainesville, MO.
