Irene Smith

Irene Smith was born April 6, 1931 in Protem, MO. to Elijah and Linda (Coiner) Jennings.

Irene Jennings and Roy Smith were united in marriage on June 6, 1953 in Mountain Home, AR. Roy and Irene spent their life on the family farm in Isabella, MO.

During her 10 year teaching career, mostly in one room school houses, she received her college degree from Southwest Baptist College in Boliver, MO. During her years as a school teacher, she had many students that became lifelong friends.

In 1962, she began working for Mar-Bax Shirt Company in Gassville, AR. After 35 years working at Mar-Bax she retired as the master pattern maker. After her retirement, she lived up to her reputation of, "Go, Go, Go". You could see her in her blue truck shopping. You could find her anywhere from Springfield, to Harrison, to Mountain Home, to West Plains and every ballgame in between. She became "Mamma" to her grandchildren as well as all their friends.

She spent her life as a faithful Christian, looking forward to being in Heaven with her Savior and departed loved ones.

Irene is survived by two sons, Denzil and wife Kay, Halbert and wife Vicki, one daughter, Teresa; five grandsons, Brandon, Denzil II, Nathan, Brett, and Titus; four granddaughters, Sheree, Misty, Katrina, and Crystal; ten great-grandchildren; three brothers, Raymond, Glendon, and Arnold; two sisters, Emma Jean and Charlene and a host of other relatives and friends.
