Iva G. Turner, 87 years, passed to heaven on June 21, 2009 at Heart of the Ozarks Healthcare. Iva was born January 18, 1922 in Foil, MO to Pony and Elsie Miller Degase.
On December 5, 1940 Iva and Cecil Turner were united in marriage in Ava, MO and to this union six children were born. Iva was a resident of the Ava community for a few years moving from Squires area where she worked alongside her husband, Cecil on the farm. They had the dairy farm for over 40 years. She loved cooking, quilting and embroidery. She was a member of the Murray Church and later attended the Faith Rock Church where she served both churches as their song leader for years. After Cecil passed away, Iva moved to the Redbud Village in Ava where she enjoyed living until health reasons she had to move to Heart of the Ozarks Healthcare. Iva was such a joy to be around. She loved people and especially being with all her family.
Iva was preceded by parents, her husband, Cecil in 1993, two grandsons, one great granddaughter, one great grandson, five brothers and one sister.
Iva is survived by six children, Norma Frye, Ava,MO, Rosella & Wilford Clayton, Wasola, MO, James & Audrey Turner, Squires, MO, Vonda & Ronnie Cantrell,Gainesville, MO, Marsha & Stan Collins, Noble, MO and Becky & Dan Cottengim, Rogersville, MO, 11 grandchildren,16 great grandchildren, seven great great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Iva will be Wednesday, June 24, 2009, at 10:00 A.M. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO with burial in the Murray Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 23, 2009 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home. Officiating will be Rev. Junior Hall. Memorials may be made to Murray Cemetery.
