Jack L. Armstrong 83 years, 6 months, 13 days old, passed away on August 28, 2016 at his home with his wife, Peggy and family by his side.
Jack was born February 15, 1933 in Elm Creek, Nebraska to Hardin Wray and Elizabeth Lytle (Fernbaugh) Armstrong.
Jack was a Veteran and served in the U.S. States Army during the Korean War.
On December 6, 1955 Jack and Peggy Jo Mitchell were united in marriage in Goodhope, MO and together they raised two children.
Jack was a self employed furniture restorer. Jack was a Christian and a long time member of Ava General Baptist Church. He served in the church as Deacon for many years and was given the title of Honorary Deacon.
Jack enjoyed fishing, hunting, farming and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and family.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, June Hetrick and Aletha Krueger.
Jack is survived by his wife, Peggy of the home in Ava, two children and their spouses, Charley & Sybil Armstrong, Springfield, MO and Jo Lynne & Jim Hathcock, Ava, MO, four grandchildren and their spouses, Shannon and Dovi Armstrong, Maggie and Shaun Cornell, Brandon and Summer Hathcock and Elizabeth and Stephen Bledsoe, eight great grandchildren, Alyssa, Lendsi, Carly, Dakota, Breeanna, Jorie, Tristan Jack, and Ashton, one great great grandchild, Thorin, one brother & wife, "Bill" & Barb Armstrong, Seattle, WA, three brother-in-laws, Mac and Lue Mitchell, Jack Krueger, and Winch Hetrick, one sister-in-law, Polly and Tom Bingaman and several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Jack will be Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at 10:00 A.M. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO with full military honors by the Troy Herd American Legion Post #112. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6-7:00 P.M. Officiating will be Rev. Dwain Moore. Cremation will follow services per Jack's request. Burial of cremains will be in the Goodhope Cemetery at a later date and time.
Memorials may be made to Hospice Compassus in Mtn. Grove, Mo or Goodhope Cemetery.
