Jack Lee Steele, 73, of Thornfield, MO, passed away on January 29, 2011 at his residence. He was born on March 11, 1937 in Kansas City, KS, the son of Delbert and Katherine (Donaley) Steele.
Jack was a veteran having proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He worked for the Kansas City public schools system as an electrician until his retirement. After he retired, he moved to Ozark County where he loved to go fishing and hunting. He continued his work as an electrician, doing several jobs for local folks, a lot of times not even charging for them. Jack loved the Ozarks, and everyone he met here loved him. He drove to Springfield every Friday night to play card games with other senior singles at a Church, something he enjoyed very much and continued to do right up til the end. He was a great, kind, and loving man who will be missed by all who knew him.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents Delbert and Katherine Steele; two sons Shawn and David Steele; and brother Bobby Steele. He is survived by his sister Margie Stack of Independence, MO; and several other family members and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 19, 2011 at the United Methodist Church, Ava, MO with Marty Blakey officiating. Cremation services are under the care and direction of Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Gainesville, MO. The family would like to say thank you to the friends and neighbors who helped during Jack's illness. A special thanks to Virginia Farmer, his caregiver.
