Jack Lee Thorne, 84 years, passed away on July 20, 2013 at Mercy Hospital, Springfield, MO.
Jack was born January 17, 1929 in Enid, OK to Walter Arthur and Hannah Mae (Curtis) Thorne.
In November of 1957 Jack and Mary Cecilia Johnston were united in marriage in Seattle, WA and to this union three children were born.
After the passing of Jack's wife, he relocated his family in 1971 to the Squires, MO area. Jack was retired from working at Boeing Aircraft of Seattle, WA for 19 years. He also was a retired beef cattle farmer until a disabling stroke forced him to move to Ava Place where he lived until his death.
Jack was a Army/Air Force Veteran and served during WWII Occupation of Japan and the Korean War. He served a total of 5 ½ years.
Jack was a Christian and a member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Ava. Jack always enjoyed working and going to church. He loved to be with his children and grandchildren.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Mary, a son-in-law, Junior Berry and one brother, Charles Thorne.
Jack is survived by three children, Scott Thorne, Carbondale, IL, Karee Berry, Wasola, MO and Walter Thorne, Seymour, MO, three grandchildren; Darrell and Eric Thorne and Mary Berry, two great grandchildren; Rowdy Thorne and Lucas Hutchison, one sister, Edith Meadows, Enid, OK and other relatives and friends.
Graveside services for Jack will be Sat., July 27, 2013, 10:00 A.M. at the Murray Cemetery, Squires, MO with full military honors by Ava American Legion Post #112 and Air Force Honor Guard. Officiating will be Rev. Tom Maples. Memorials may be made to Murray Cemetery.
