Jack Clellan Vineyard, 91 years, 8 months, and 7 days old, departed this life on March 6, 2016 at his home with his family by his side.

Jack was born June 30, 1924 in Ruble, MO to Logan Clarida and Grace Elaine (Mabery) Vineyard.

On Feb. 2, 1945 Jack and Viola Passey were united in marriage in El Paso, TX and to this union six children were born. Later in life Jack married Deon (Baird) on October 25, 2003 in Mtn. Home, AR.

Jack was a Army veteran and served his country in WWII and was awarded a Purple Heart.

Jack received his Masters in education from Arizona State University, and was a school administrator for over 40 years before retiring to the Ozarks in 1985.

Jack was a semi pro baseball player in his younger years, and was very social. He enjoyed singing and dancing, as well as writing, and he authored two books after retirement. He also liked driving the back roads around Douglas County. Family was the most important thing in Jack's life, and he loved visiting with family and friends.

He was a dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Ava.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and the mother of his children, Viola in 2002, and his wife, Deon in 2011, two brothers, Don and Kenny Vineyard, and one grandson, Hudson.

Jack is survived by six children, Grace Elaine Blau, Waynesville, MO, Deborah Becker, St. Joseph, MO, Douglas and wife Irina, Utah, Quincy and wife Gretchen, Ava, MO, Scott and wife Alicia, Canon City, CO and James and wife Carolyn, Ava, MO, twenty-eight grandchildren, thirty-nine great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.


Funeral services for Jack will be Friday, March 11th, 2016 at 11:00 am in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Ava, MO with burial in the Ava Cemetery with full Military Honors by Troy Herd American Legion Post 112. Visitation starts Friday at 9:30am to service time at the church. Officiating will be Bishop Carlton Barrus. Memorials may be made to the LDS Perpetual Education Fund.
