JACQUELINE HARLAN
Morton - Jacqueline L. "Jackie" Harlan, 91, of Morton, IL, formerly of Ava, Mo., passed away at 1:08 p.m. Sunday, April 18, 2010, at her home.
She was born Nov. 25, 1918, in Van Buren County, Iowa, to Otto W. and F. Geraldine (Roland) Workman. She married Dr. Clifton E. Harlan on Jan. 2, 1937, in Ottumwa, Iowa. They had been married 71 years. He preceded her in death on June 14, 2008. She also was preceded in death by one son, Dallas Harlan; one daughter, Carolyn Harlan; two sisters, Frances Graham and Patricia Ritthaler; and her son-in-law, Bob Whelchel on Aug. 13, 2009.
Surviving are one son, Richard (Debbie) Harlan of Republic, Mo.; one daughter, Rosemary Whelchel of Hanna City; six grandchildren, Todd Mangan and Holly Demers, both of Stuart, Fla., Heather (Mike) Lind of Kansas City, Mo., Stuart (Pam) Harlan of Jefferson City, Mo., Christopher (Heather) Harlan of Ringgold, Ga., and Julie (Curtis) Martell of Lawrence, Kan.; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Jackie was a member of the Ava United Methodist Church in Ava, Mo., where she attended regularly and taught Sunday school.
She was a homemaker, taking great pride in her home and caring for her family. She enjoyed working in her yard and flower gardens.
Local visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 21, 2010, at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home in Morton.
Additional visitation will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 23, followed by a funeral service at 10:30 a.m. at Ava United Methodist Church, 941 SW Fourth Ave., Ava, Mo. Burial will be in Ava Cemetery. Local arrangements are being conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO.
