James V. Cunningham

James V. Cunningham, 73 years, passed to heaven on August 22, 2011 at his home with his family by his side.

James was born February 19, 1938 in Dunklin County, MO to James and Dalie (Hicks) Cunningham.

James was a resident of Fordland since 1967 moving from St. Charles, MO. On May 16, 1958 James and Marian Johnson were united in marriage in Springfield, MO and to this union two sons were born.

James was a veteran and served with the U.S. Army.
He retired from Zenith Electronics Corp. in Springfield, MO as an Electronics Engineer. He had also worked for McDonnell Douglas Aircraft in St. Louis from 1963 to 1967.

He was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church in Fordland.
He had taught Sunday School Class for years. He enjoyed music, singing and playing the guitar. James was active in the Lord's work as long as he was able.

James was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters.


James is survived by his wife, Marian L. Cunningham, Fordland, MO, two sons and their spouses, James "Jamey" & Mary Cunningham, Fordland, MO and Thomas & Libby Cunningham, Springfield, MO, six grandchildren, Bruce, Brad and Brock Cunningham, Courtney Cunningham, Noah and Bethany Snelson, seven great grandchildren, one sister, Rosa Tice-Brown, Sarasota, FL, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.


Funeral services for James will be Friday, August 26, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO with burial in the Fordland Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, August 25, 2011 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home. Officiating will be Rev. Gene Crewse and Rev. Tom Johnson.
