James H. "Jim" Spurlin

Ava, MO

James H. "Jim" Spurlin, 73 years, 6 months, and 22 days old, passed to heaven on February 6, 2011 at Rogersville, MO at his son's home, Joe, with his family by his side.

Jim was born July 15, 1937 in Chicago, IL to James and Daisy (Moyer) Spurlin.

On Feb. 6, 1960, Jim and Joe Ann Parsons were united in marriage in Aurora, IL and to this union three children were born. Joe Ann was the love of his life and he passed away on their anniversary.

Jim was a Veteran and had served with the U.S. Army Reserve. He was a retired Truck Driver and a Dairy Farmer. He lived most of his life in the Ava community and was a member of the Ava General Baptist Church.

Jim enjoyed watching his kids and grandkids play sports. Jim had lived the last four years in Rogersville to be with his son and two youngest granddaughters. He also was an avid Chicago Bears football fan. He loved entertaining and teasing his grandchildren and just about anyone he would meet.

Jim was preceded by his parents, his wife, Joe Ann in 2006, two brothers, Richard and John Spurlin.


Jim is survived by three children, Jill Olson & George, Wasilla, AK, Jeff Spurlin, Kansas City, MO and Joe Spurlin & wife, Rhonda, Rogersville, MO, nine
grandchildren, three great grandchildren, sister-in-law, Barbara Murray, Conway, AR, a special friend, Joyce Clinkingbeard, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.



Funeral services for Jim will be Thursday, February 10, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO with burial in the Ava Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, February 9, 2011 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Officiating will be Pastor Oren Alcorn. Memorials may be made to American Diabetes Association.
