James Ray "Jim" Fleetwood
Ava, MO

Jim Fleetwood, 67 years, passed away on April 24, 2013 from a long illness at his home with his wife, Alice and family by his side.

Jim was born July 22, 1945 in Ava, MO to Clyde and Doris (Stout) Fleetwood. He graduated from Ava High School.

Jim was a lifelong resident of the Ava community.
On April 17, 1965, Jim and Alice Ann Cooper were united in marriage in Midway, AR and to this union three children were born.



Jim was co-owner of Cooper Lumber Co. He worked side by side with his father-in-law, Cleo Cooper for many years. Later on, his family joined him in the business. Jim loved working and enjoyed visiting with everyone.

Jim was a Christian and attended the Ava General Baptist Church.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and watching his children and grandchildren playing sports. He was a devoted husband, son, father and grandfather.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Ronnie Fleetwood, his uncle Marion and Aunt Cleo Fleetwood and his in-law's, Cleo & Bobbie Cooper.


Jim is survived by his wife, Alice Fleetwood, Ava, MO, three children and their spouses, Scott & Sandy Fleetwood, Erin & Daniel Swofford and Kenny & Kristin Fleetwood all of Ava, MO, ten grandchildren; Brian Fleetwood, Greg Lansdown, Abbie Lansdown, Ciara Lohman, Julia Swofford, Jacey Swofford, Drake Rollins, Nate Swofford, Evan Fleetwood and Kenley Fleetwood, two great grandchildren, one sister & husband, Lanna & Dick Strong, Prairie Village, KS, sister-in-law, Phyllis Fleetwood, Ava, MO, nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Jim will be Friday, April 26, 2013, 10:00 a.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO with burial in the Ava Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Officiating will be Pastor Oren Alcorn. Memorials may be made to Hospice Compassus or Jake Yates Memorial Fund.
