James Junior Shover born August 14, 1939 to James and Velma Bernice Shover passed away on September 17, 2020 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield. Both parents and one of his beloved daughters, Tammy Emerick preceded him in passing.
Jim had many endeavors in his life some of which included, superintendent of major bridge Building across the United States, owner- operator of a long hall trucking company, dairy farmer and school bus driver.
His home was always open to everyone, anytime.
Jim spent many years in the pacific northwest and returned to Seymour in his later years of retirement. There he spent many hours at the local coffee shops reminiscing with friends and family and on his hobby farm that he loved.
His living family consists of 6 children: Steve Shover (Doris), Stephanie Bailey (Dale), Kathy Pierson, all of Seymour; Amanda Frazier (Eric) of Sanot, TX; Luke Shover of Charlotte NC, and Emma Shover of Columbia, SC. His 15 grand children include Cody Shover, Amy Ritz, Dayna Miller, Eric Bennett, April Shover, Jacki Shover, Trista Lucas, Brady Bennett, Grady Bennett, Kesha Ipock, Jammi Glenn, Kreg Akers, Colton Davis, Braxtyn Frazier and Brody Frazier. Jim is also survived by 40 great grand children and 2 great great grandchildren.
Loved by many, Jim was always quick to smile and always known to tell it to you how it was. One of the last true cowboys, it was from this old west wisdom that he drew guidance and passed along to those close to him. His impact in life will be not be noted for the breadth of people he interacted with but rather for the depth of connection and compassion provided to those closest to him. He will be missed most in celebrating the little wins. It was these small victories that you confided in him because you knew that he was in your corner, regardless of the outcome.
Memorial contribution made in James's name to the St. Jude Affiliate Clinic at Mercy Hospital,
