Ava, Missouri
Chloie Jane Pruett, 99 years, 10 months, 18 days old, passed peacefully on October 5, 2026, at James River Nursing and Rehabilitation, in Springfield, Missouri, with her family by her side.
Jane was born November 18, 1926, in Douglas County, Missouri, to Oda and Zella (Whitaker) Brake.
Jane was raised in the Ava community of Douglas County.
On November 22, 1943, Jane and Elzie Burton Pruett were united in marriage in Ava, Missouri, and together were blessed with three daughters, Sue, Ester, and Tinsie.
Jane was a wonderful homemaker and seamstress. She worked at Spaldings Factory for years then transitioned to Rawlings Sporting Goods Manufacturing in Ava. After Rawlings plant closed, she went to work at Hagales Manufacturing in Ozark, Missouri, until she retired. Needless to say, Jane was a hard worker.
She cared for her family, and she was known by everyone as, “Grandma Jane”. Jane enjoyed making quilts for friends and family. She did it all. During Covid, she made many handmade masks. She tended to all her family sewing and stitching needs. Jane also enjoyed reading, word puzzles, and traveling. While living at James River, she never wanted to miss playing BINGO.
Jane was a Christian and believed in her Lord Jesus Christ. She was a member of the Eastern Gate Church for many years. She will be greatly missed, but knowing she loved the Lord makes our hearts full of love and joy.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, James and Lewis Brake, and her little brother, Elza Ray; her sister, Evelyn Pruett; a great grandson, Keaton; and two sons-in-law, Bill Gardner and Torrance Todd.
Jane is survived by her daughters, Sue Gardner, Ester Todd, and Tinsie and Rick Barlett; eight grandchildren, Tim Gardner, Terri Holt, Sheila Hampton, Teryl Todd, Seth Todd, Daniel Paul, Tara Kastning, and Danica Cody; many great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family, and numerous friends.
Funeral services for Jane will be Saturday, October 10, 2026, at 10:30 A.M. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, Missouri, with burial following in the Harvill Cemetery, Oldfield, Missouri (Keltner). Visitation will be prior to the service Saturday at 9:30 A.M. Officiating will be Pastor James Orick. Memorials may be made to Fair Haven Children’s Home, Strafford, Missouri or Harvill Cemetery.
