JENNIE M. SMITH

Jennie M. Smith, 72, our loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother was born on June 19, 1936 in Minco, OK to Ed and Mable Cobbs. She departed this life on August 20, 2008 in Gainesville, MO due to complications of Alzheimer's.

She married Jonas Smith on March 21, 1955 in Lamont, CA, together they have five children. She was a homemaker and secretary for WL Research in Bakersfield, CA where she worked side by side with her loving husband. Together they retired and moved to Pontiac, MO in 1995 and have resided there since. She loved to be with her family, to fish, cook, and play bingo.

Jennie is survived by her husband Jonas Smith of the home in Pontiac, MO; her children and their spouses Terry Smith and Thelma of Oklahoma City, OK, Danny Smith of Gainesville, MO, Robert Smith and Connie of Midway, AR, Ricky Smith and Joan of Ottertail, MN, and Debra Smith and Louis of Gainesville, MO; 16 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren; her brothers Carl Cobbs, Wayne Cobbs, Leon Cobbs, Ronny Cobbs, and sister Dean Ward; along with many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Leroy Cobbs, Walter Cobbs, and sister Louise Craighead.

Graveside services will be Monday, August 25, 2008, 10AM at Price Place Cemetery near Pontiac, MO with Jim Brown officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, August 24, 2008, 2:00 – 4:00PM at Clinkingbeard Funeral Home in Gainesville, MO. Memorials can be made to Alzheimer's Association. Services are under the direction of Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Gainesville.
