Jerry Eugene Hannaford
Jerry Eugene Hannaford 70, passed away Tuesday, February 5, 2008 at the Gainesville Health Care Center. Jerry was born on May 31, 1937 to Elvis and Loma (Shanks) Hannaford. He was the 2nd oldest of 5 brothers: Bill, Robert, Kenneth, and Dwain. On January 21, 1959 Jerry married the love of his life (and partner-in-crime), Janet Sanford—this year they celebrated their 49th year of marriage. Jerry loved his family more than anything; he took great pride in his wife, his two sons: Kent and Chris, his two grandsons Kenny and Kyle, and his two exchange granddaughters: Lena and Larisa. He also enjoyed special relationships with his two daughter-in-laws: Rhonda and Robin.
Jerry loved to talk and visit almost as much as he loved his family. The almost 20 years he and his brother Robert owned the Gainesville Tire Shop gave Jerry the opportunity to make a number of treasured friends (and many became fishing buddies). In more recent years Jerry worked for the Missouri Department of Conservation where he truly loved his job, as it allowed him to help preserve the beauty of the land and the animals of Missouri.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Janet Hannaford of Gainesville, his sons, Kent Hannaford of Pontiac; and Chris Hannaford and his wife Robin of Lebanon; and daughter-in-law Rhonda Hannaford of Gainesville; two grandsons, Kenny and Kyle Hannaford of Gainesville; and two exchange granddaughters Lena and Larisa of Lebanon; three brothers Robert Hannaford and wife Carol of Mountain Home, Arkansas, Kenneth Hannaford and his wife Pat, of Pontiac, and Dwain Hannaford and his wife Lisa of Gainesville, sister-in-law, Shirley Hannaford of Mansfield; sister-in-law, Coneta Hubbard of Rockaway Beach; brother-in-law Jerry Hubbard of Marble Rock, Iowa; brother-in-law Eddie Sanford of Mountain Home, Arkansas; as well as numerous nephews and nieces.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, Elvis and Loma Hannaford; his brother, Bill, and his brother-in-law Larry Sanford
