Jerry Ferman Mainus, 63 years, passed away on July 8, 2009 with his family by his side at John Cochran Veteran's Hospital, St. Louis, MO

Ferman was born October 22, 1945 in Ava, MO to Chulcy and Mayme (Reser) Mainus.

Ferman was a Musician. Ferman and Mary Elizabeth Broyles were united in marriage on September 26, 1987 in Wright County, MO. Ferman loved playing music and singing. He enjoyed the outdoors and also did woodworking. Ferman loved being with his family and friends. He was a veteran and served as a Medic with the U.S. Army, First Calvary Divison in the Vietnam War. He received a Purple Heart and the Bronze Star and other medals. He was a lifetime member of the Ava VFW Post #5993.


Ferman was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Daymond Mainus and a nephew, Travis Mainus.


Ferman is survived by his wife, Mary Elizabeth Mainus Norwood, MO, seven children, James Mainus and Jerry Mainus both of Yarnell, AZ, Cecil Crossland, Ava, MO, Becky Crossland, Norwood, MO, John Crossland, Hartville, MO, Billi Crossland, Ava, MO and Megan Elizabeth Mainus, Norwood, MO, many grandchildren, one sister, Reenie Zimmerman, Seymour, MO and other relatives and friends.


Funeral services for Ferman will be Tuesday, July 14, 2009, at 10:00 A.M. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO with burial in the Springcreek Cemetery with full military honors by Ava American Legion #112 and VFW #5993. Visitation will be Monday, July 13, 2009 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Officiating will be Robby Colten. Memorials may be made to to the Ava VFW Post #5993.
