Jessie L. Coy, daughter of Carl and Lottie (Rippee) Hatfield was born on Jan. 10, 1922 in Douglas County, MO and departed this life on July 31, 2006 in Ava, MO at the age of 84 years, 6 months and 21 days.

Jessie was a lifelong resident of the Sweden community. She was a housewife and homemaker. On March 18, 1942 Jessie and Dewey Otto Coy were united in marriage in Ava, MO and to this union one daughter was born. Jessie became a Christian at the age of 17 years. She was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church. Jessie enjoyed cooking, canning and taking care of the household. She loved being with her family.

Jessie was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Otto in 1982. They were married 40 years. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Patsy and Darrell Lakey, Ava, MO, two grandchildren, Janell Lakey, Brent & wife, Jennifer Lakey, one great grandson, Matthew Lakey all of Ava and a host of relatives and friends.

Services are Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2006, 2:00 P.M. at the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO with the Rev. Oscar Cunningham officiating.
Interment will be in the Dobbs Cemetery. Visitation is Tuesday from 7 to 8 pm in the funeral home. Family requests memorials to the Dobbs Cemetery in care of the funeral home or Town & Country Bank, Ava.
