JOAN CONNER

Joan Conner, 68, of Pontiac, Missouri passed away in her home surrounded by family on Saturday, May 14, 2011.

She was born January 9, 1943 at Oakland, Arkansas to Art and Nancy Mahan. She was married to Bob Conner on April 2, 1965 in Gassville, Arkansas. They made their home in Pontiac, Missouri nearby to the family farm where she was raised with her 7 siblings. She retired from the United States Postal Services where she served as a Postmaster. She loved spending time with family, friends, growing flowers, tending to her chickens, guinea and turkeys and spending time on Bullshoals lake. She especially loved spending time with her children and grandchildren who lovingly referred to her as Nanna.

Joan is survived by her husband, Bob Conner, Pontiac, a daughter, Tammy Jo Stearns and husband Travis Stearns, Ozark, Mo, a son, Bobby Dean Conner of Jersey City, New Jersey, three grandchildren, Devon, Taellor and Slaton Stearns of Ozark, siblings and spouses Pat Bastin, Hayesville, Kansas, Dick and Charlene Mahan, Cuba, Mo, Ronnie and LaDella Albright, Mtn. Home, AR, Gordon and Julia Hodges, Lakeview, AR and Corky and Karen Mahan, Pontiac, Mo along with many nieces, nephews and family and close friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, mother, brother and sister-in-law, Dean and Randy Mahan and brother-in-law Paul Bastin.

Graveside services are to be held at Pontiac cemetery on Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Clinkingbeard Funeral Home of Gainesville, Mo.
