Joe Barney Miller, son of Bernie Miller and Josie (Hatfield) Miller was born on May 25, 1929 in Ava, MO and raised by his grandmother, Sadie & her husband, Jim Matney. He passed away from a long illness on October 8, 2007 in his home in Ava, MO with his loving family by his side.
Joe B. was a life long resident of the Ava community. He was a farmer and school bus driver for the Ava R-1 District for 28 years. On March 24, 1943 Joe B. and Goldie Jenkins were united in marriage in Ava, MO by the Rev. Leonard Silvey.
Joe B. loved working and grabbing suckers. He also enjoyed listening to hounds run. Joe B. recently made a profession of faith and was saved. He loved being with his family.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bernie, his mother, Josie, grandmother, Sadie & Jim, two brothers, Russell & Tommy Miller, half-sister, Mary Ann Coonce and great great granddaughter, Alya Grace Barcus.
Survivors include his wife Goldie of the home, one daughter, three sons and their spouses, Reba & Don Nash, Ava, MO, Joe Pete & Jeannie Miller, Ava, MO, Jack & Connie Miller, Ava, MO and Jimmy & Brenda Miller, Squires, MO, 10 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, two sisters, Nelly Turner, Ava, MO, Betty Jean & Ernie Scott, San Bernardino, CA, one brother, Johnny & Norma Jean Miller, St. Bruno, CA, two sisters-in-law, Ruby Miller, Ava, MO and Wanda Sue Miller, Mansfield, MO, half brothers and sisters, Jack Miller & family, Colorado, Mike & Evelyn Miller & family, Kansas City, MO, Alvin & Rosie Miller & family, Ava, MO and brother-in-law, Woodrow Coonce & family, Ava, MO and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services for Joe B. are Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2007, 10:00 A.M. in the Clinkingbeard Chapel, Ava, MO with Rev. David Dodson officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6 to 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Family requests memorials to the American Cancer Society, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Whites Creek Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO.
