John Ralph Autrey

John Ralph Autrey, 90 years and 5 days old, passed to Heaven on May 18, 2016 at Ava Place, Ava, MO.
John was born May 13, 1926 in De Queen, AR to James and Mary (Mullins) Autrey.
John was a WWII U.S.Coast Guard Veteran during World War II and was honorably discharged at the end of the war.
In 1944, John and Nellie Elsie were married and became the proud parents of two children; a son, Ronald Ralph, and a daughter, Linda Lee. They were married for forty years.
On December 25, 1985 John and Martha Hajos were united in marriage in South Lake Tahoe, CA. Their marriage of 29 years ended when Martha passed away in 2015.
John was a retired general contractor; he had a passion for building homes and working with is hands. John was a licensed pilot and loved flying his own plane. John was a quiet, gentle man who was firm in his convictions and beliefs. He loved being outdoors, and enjoyed a good home-cooked meal. He was a member of the the Carpenters Union.
John was preceded by his parents, his first wife, Nellie Elsie, his second wife, Martha, and his son, Ron Autrey. John was the last of his siblings, with sisters, Leo Marie King, Edley Sackett, Ruth Evelyn Autrey, brothers, James A. Autrey Jr., Ray Sinclair Autrey, and Doyle Wayne Autrey having passed away in earlier years. John was close to other family members, including his famous cousin, the late singer Gene Autry.
John is survived by his daughter, Linda Lee Christensen, Fresno, CA, and two step-children, Eve C. Mailly (husband, Bruce), Escondido, CA, and Peter Farkas, Baldwin Park, CA,, four grandchildren, Kari Pappendorf, Eric Christensen, Christine Christensen and John Tucker, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Graveside services for John will be Monday, May 23, at 10:00 a.m. in the Oak Grove Cemetery with full military honors by Troy Herd American Legion Post #112. Officiating will be Chaplain Jeff Smith. Memorials may be made to the Parkinson's Association. Services are being conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO.
