Was born the son of Harold John Burkdoll and Ollie Mae Degase Burkdoll on March 3, 1941 at Toledo, Missouri and departed this life on August 12, 2006 at the age of 65 Years 5 Months and 9 Days at his home at Squires, Mo.
Johnny's early years were spent gaining his education at Tranquility School, Frye School, and finally at Ava public school, where he finally learned that he already knew everything. In school Johnny worked on his skill of practical joking and became one of the finest around. On June 1, 1960 Johnny married Carrie Fay Mitchusson in Rochelle, Illinois, and to this union three children were born. Farm life was tough according to Johnny; on the dairy farm there was nothing but work, "24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year". Johnny enjoyed simple things, one of his favorite was sitting on his feed bucket watching the horses eat, he also enjoyed coon hunting, and working on his practical jokes. Johnny belonged to Missouri Fox Trot Horse Breeders Association, Booger County Coonhunters, American Quarter Horse Association, and Ava Saddle Club.
Survivors include his wife Carrie, two sons Johnny Jr. and wife Phyllis, of Squires, Jason Burkdoll of Ava and a daughter Joan Burkdoll of Squires, seven grandchildren, Micca, Kati, Austin, Amanda, Haylee, Alex, and Shane, one brother Deward Turner and wife Marcy of Squires, two sisters DeEtta and Bob Atherton of Ava and Deloris Swanson, the state of Washington.
Johnny was preceded by a brother Eldon Burkdoll and one sister Doris Burkdoll and his parents.
Funeral services for Johnny Lowell Burkdoll, Sr. will be held Wednesday August 16th at 10:00 A.M. in the Clinkingbeard Chapel with Rev. Tony Turner and Rev. John Haskins officiating. Dinner will be served at the Squires Community Center. Visitation will be from 6 till 7 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.
