Johnie William Miller, 75 years, passed to heaven on August 1, 2013 at Heart of the Ozarks Healthcare, Ava, MO from a long illness with his family by his side.

Johnie was born May 1, 1938 in Ava, MO to Charley and Elsie (Burlison) Miller. Johnie was a life long resident of the Ava community. On August 24, 1957 Johnie and Helen Garrison were united in marriage in Ava, MO by the Rev. C.W. Duffer and to this union three sons were born.

Johnie was a retired Sheet Metalist for Cessena Aircraft and had also worked as a painter for Rawlings Sporting Goods in Ava. Johnie attended Ava General Baptist Church.

He enjoyed traveling with his family, woodworking and gardening. He liked to keep things neat and orderly in and around the house, and enjoyed antiquing with Helen.
Johnie especially loved to tell the grand kids ghost stories and take them to haunted houses.

Johnie was preceded by his parents and his brother, Doyle Miller.

Johnie is survived by his wife, Helen Miller, Ava, MO, three sons and their spouses, Johnnie & Tammy Miller, Rick and Theresa Miller all of Ava, MO and Danny Miller, Germany, nine grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, three brothers and their spouses, J.D. & Mary Miller, Charley & Glenda Miller and Larry Joe & Marsha Miller all of Ava, three sisters and their spouses, Peggy & J.C. Bonham, Moberly, MO, Joann Jenkins, Ava, MO and Betty Elliott, Blue Springs, MO, many nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.


Funeral services for Johnie will be Saturday, August 3, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO with burial in the Denney Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 1:00 p.m. to service time in the funeral home. Officiating will be Pastor Oren Alcorn. Memorials may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital .
