Joseph Edward Corcoran, 70 years, passed to heaven on January 13, 2010 at his home in Ava with his family by his side.

Joe was born August 19, 1939 in Troy, KS to Joseph and Ruby (Blanton) Corcoran.

Joe was a resident of Ava since 1992 moving from St. Joseph, MO. He was a Truck Driver and worked at Gray Manufacturing in St. Joseph, MO for 20 years, then later owned and operated his own Truck leased to North American Van Lines HVP Exhibit Division for 17 years before retiring in Ava, MO. In Ava, he enjoyed raising Foxtrotter horses and Boxer dogs. On September 16, 1963 Joseph and Ruth Ann Goodwin were united in marriage and to this union four children were born. Joe was a Vietnam Veteran and served with the U.S. Navy. He and Ruth enjoyed living in the Sweden community. Family was the center of Joe's life and being a Christian.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents and one great grandchild, Monty Joseph Hovey.


Joe is survived by his wife, Ruth Ann Corcorcan, Ava, MO, four children, Christina Corcoran, Seymour, MO, Robin Shannon and husband, Doug, Mtn. Grove, MO, Kimberly Norton and Joseph Edward Corcoran Jr and wife, Jamie all of Ava, MO, 16 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, five sisters & their spouses, Juanita & Raymond Munger, Wathena, KS, Clara Joann & Clay DeMasters, Joplin, MO, Betty Cook, Elwood, KS, Linda Tennison, Sparta, MO and Glenda & Bill Sanders, St. Joseph, MO, one brother, Kirk Corcoran, Springfield, MO, nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.


Memorial services for Joe will be Saturday, January 16, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. in the Sweden Church, Ava, MO with burial of his ashes at a later date and time. Officiating will be Rev. Marvin Loftin. Services are being conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO. Love offerings may be made to the family to help defray expenses.
