Kaleb Tanner High died March 26, 2010, in Springfield, Mo. He was born Aug. 27, 1990, in Mountain Home, Ark., the son of Joseph High and Sheila (Allen) Newsome.
Kaleb was a 2009 Graduate of Gainesville High School where he enjoyed classes in auto mechanics and metal shop. He played baseball outfielder for GHS his freshman and sophomore years.
His hobbies included automobiles, listening to music, hunting and fishing, computers and spending time with family and friends. He was very proud of his truck and liked to take it mudding. His brother, Evan, said that they enjoyed building a clubhouse together "It was huge. It even had a target range and a tree stand in it," Evan said.
He enjoyed visiting his pop, Leroy High, in Maryland where he and Evan went shark fishing and hung around on the beach. His favorite movies involved comedy and action. Every time his aunt Shonnie (Allen) Pettit came to visit, she would be laughing with Kaleb for hours as he tickled her and poked her.
He was always smiling and laughing. He was a great son who loved his father and mother very much. He kissed them every time before he left their houses. He worked for his father for several years and learned many useful trades. After graduating from high school, he worked at Dawt Mill's canoe service where he enjoyed spending time outdoors. He planned to take classes at a vocational technical school next fall in Springfield, Mo.
He is survived by his father Joseph High and his wife Victoria (Fogg) of Gainesville, his mother Sheila (Allen) Newsome and step-father Phillip Newsome of Springfield, two brothers Evan of Springfield and Cooper of Gainesville, two step-brothers Carson and Ethan Bland of Gainesville, and one soon-to-be brother he was looking forward to meeting, Ryder Kaleb High, grandfathers Leroy High and his wife Pat of Jacksonville, Fla., Alford Allen and his wife Fay of Gainesville, one special aunt Shonnie (Allen) Pettit of Fort Leavenworth, KS, and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandmothers Laverne (Hambelton) Allen of Gainesville and Beverly (Brody) High of Baltimore, Md.
Memorial gifts may be made to the Kaleb Tanner High Memorial Scholarship Fund, a nonprofit scholarship fund administered by Community Foundation of the Ozarks, which will benefit students of Gainesville High School. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 pm on Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at the Gainesville Church of Christ, Gainesville, MO with Ron Pinckney and Halbert Smith officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 6-8 pm at Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Gainesville, MO. Interment will be at Sallee Cemetery near Gainesville.
