KATHI SMITH

Kathi Smith passed away Sunday morning, April 22, 2007 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri, after a long, courageous fight with cancer. She was 50 years, 4 months, and 2 days old. Kathi was born on December 20, 1956 in Davenport, Iowa to Bob G. Burris and Georgia L. (Mooney) Burris. After graduating high school in Bettendorf, Iowa Kathi and her family moved to the Ozarks. Kathi went to work for Baxter Lab when she was 18 years old. She has worked there continuously since then and currently held the position of chemist. On July 10, 1976 Kathi and Dale Smith were married at Liberty General Baptist Church in Isabella, Missouri. They made their home and raised their three kids on Dale's family farm.
Kathi was very active in our community. She was involved in everything her kids liked to do. In fact, there were so many fundraisers, school events, summer leagues, etc., that they couldn't all be mentioned.
As a member of the Frontier General Baptist Church, Kathi worked with their Youth Group. This isn't surprising since she loved kids so much.
She is survived by her husband Dale Smith of the home, 3 children Angela Broome and husband Andrew of Cotter, Arkansas, Kara Smith of Isabella, Missouri, and Seth Smith of Isabella, Missouri; 2 grandchildren Eli and Easton Broome of Cotter, Arkansas; parents Bob and Georgia Burris of Summit, Arkansas, brothers Bobby Burris of Flippin, Arkansas and Rick Burris of Mountain Home, Arkansas; sisters Lori Glenn of Mountain Home, Arkansas and Dina Callahan of Midway, Arkansas; mother-in-law Edith Smith of Isabella, Missouri.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday afternoon, April 25, 2007 at 2:00 pm at Clinkingbeard Funeral Home in Gainesville, Missouri with Ron Pinckney and Halbert Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Isabella Cemetery.
