Kathryn Ann Smelser, 59, of Gainesville, Missouri passed away peacefully on December 6, 2011. She suffered from soft tissue sarcoma cancer and was able to spend her final days surrounded by family in Austin, Texas.
Kathy was born on June 28, 1952 in St. Louis, Missouri, preceded in death by her parents, Melvin Davis and Marilyn Lamers Davis, her sister Cheryl Clark and her brother Melvin Davis Jr. Kathy married Boyce Smelser September 2th, 1969 in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas. She is survived by Boyce and their daughters Amy Graham and Sonja Taylor, her son in law Darren Taylor, her grandsons Cody, Austen, and Mason Graham, Zane and Tagg Taylor. She is also survived by her sisters Judy Davis Goodman and Peggy Davis and her brother Rodney Davis, as well as her beloved dog Thunder. She has joined her grandson Kelton Trae in God's kingdom.
Kathy was a cherished member of her community for the past 14 years in Gainesville, Missouri, working for many years at the local movie store. She loved her position as it afforded her the opportunity to smile, laugh and visit with her friends and neighbors. Kathy always enjoyed planting and tending to her garden and flowerbeds. She had a love for the Dallas Cowboys, music, a beautiful singing voice, and a smile that would light up a room.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Dec. 10, 2011 at Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Gainesville, MO with Bobby Jo Wade officiating. Visitation is at 1pm, and funeral service at 2pm.
