Obituary

Kenneth Lee Lupton

Ava, Missouri

Kenneth Lupton, age 87, passed away on January 18, 2025, at James River Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Springfield, MO. Ken was born to Barden Wesley and Mary Modena Lupton in 1937 in Ava, MO. While attending Ava High School, Ken met his wife, Joanne. Ken was a devoted husband, dad, father-in-law, grandpa and great-grandpa.

Ken proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. His deep commitment to Jesus Christ led him to the ministry, where he preached the Word of God and led many to the path of salvation for more than 50 years. He fostered many wonderful relationships throughout his ministry. Known for his welcoming smile, down-to-earth (and often ornery) demeanor, and somewhat corny jokes, Ken loved people and never knew a stranger.

Involved in the community, Ken was a member of his local American Legion, involved in the Kiwanis Club, and was a longtime member of the Masonic Lodge. He was also out in the community, attending as many of his grandchildren's activities as possible. Ken had a deep appreciation for the outdoors. He enjoyed growing a variety of vegetables and flowers and riding his Kubota around the farm, caring for the animals.

Ken was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Jim Lupton, Bill Lupton, Barden Lupton, Charlie Lupton, Loretta Peterman, Louise Butler, and Christine Breshears. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Joanne Lupton; daughter, Sonja Johnson and her husband Charles; daughter, Tracey Wilson and her husband Eric; granddaughter, Courtney Weter, her husband Joshua, and great-granddaughter, Ryker Mae; grandson, Braden Wilson; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Funeral services for Kenneth will be Saturday, January 25, 2025, at 2:00 PM at the Clinkingbeard Chapel, Ava, MO, with burial following in the Dogwood Cemetery, Dogwood, MO, with full military honors by the U.S. Air Force and the Troy Herd American Legion 112. Visitation will be Saturday at 1:00 PM prior to the service. Officiating will be Rev. Denver Fields. The family requests memorials to the Baptist Children's Home, 603 N. Main St., Mt.
