Kenneth James Smith, 68 years, passed to heaven on October 17, 2015 at his home surrounded by his family.
Kenneth was born on April 23, 1947 in Independence, MO to Kenneth Julian Smith and Edna Rae (Flint) Smith. He graduated from William Chrisman High School in 1965.
Kenneth was employed by Lefarg Cement Corporation in Independence, MO as an electrician for almost 30 years. He was an Air Force Veteran.
He was a Christian and a member of the Church of Christ Temple Lot in Independence, MO. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, loading his own bullets, and tying his own fly fishing flies. Kenneth was a good carpenter and a jack of all trades, and he loved the outdoors and being with his family.
Kenneth and Sharon (Woods) were united in marriage on May 19, 1978 in Independence, MO.
Kenneth was preceded by his parents, one son, Shannon James Smith, and an older brother, Alexander Hale Smith.
Kenneth is survived by his wife of the home, three children, Daniel Ray Smith and wife Melissa of Ava, Westley Dale Smith wife Karen of Republic, MO and Christian Lee Smith of Springfield, MO, one brother, Robert Smith of Lenexa, MO, a sister, June Carol Sarratt of Independence, MO, six grandchildren, Xavier, Nicholas, Serena, James, Carina, and Riley, as well as several nieces and nephews and other family.
Memorial services for Kenneth will be Sunday, October 25th, at 1:00 pm in the Ava Lions Club. Officiating will be Elder Jim Case. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer society.
