Kerman O. McSwain, 97 years, passed to Heaven on September 26, 2013 at Heart of the Ozarks Healthcare, Ava, MO with his family by his side.
Kerman was born July 28, 1916 in Thornfield, MO to John Thomas and Lillie (Lawson) McSwain.
Kerman lived most of his life in the Ava community.
In 1938 Kerman and Irene Smith were united in marriage and to this union seven children were born.
Kerman was a retired Maintenance Foreman with Rawlings Sporting Goods Company in Ava. Kerman also worked for Dick Gastineau as a mechanic, and for Dale Moore as a mechanic in the poultry business, he also owned his own dairy farm and owned and worked in his own saw mills. He was a devout Christian and even filled the pulpit on occasion.
Kerman enjoyed fishing, remodeling, hunting, playing the harmonica and gardening and growing fruit in his orchard. He also enjoyed volunteering for the Regional Kidney Dialysis unit.
Kerman was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Irene, one son, Howard, two brothers, Glenard and Kenneth McSwain, and one grandson Glenn and granddaughter Rebecca.
Kerman is survived by six children, Jewell Blake, Mt., Kerman McSwain, Jr. and wife Janet, Ava, MO, James Thomas McSwain and wife Judy, Gene McSwain, Ava, MO, Evelyn Adams and husband Kenny, Ava, MO and Kimberly Morgan and husband Scott, Ava, MO, 19 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Kerman will be Monday, September 30, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO with burial in the Ava Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 5 till 6 p.m. in the funeral home. Officiating will be Rev. Oren Alcorn. Memorials may be made to Gideons or The Renal Care Group 1200 N. Main Suite #2 Mtn.
