Lawrence Ray Brown, 79 years, 3 months, and 30 days old, passed away on June 28, 2015 at Heart of the Ozarks Healthcare, Ava, MO with his family by his side.
Ray was born February 29, 1936 in Gentryville, MO to Robert and Ida Luetta (Freeman) Brown. He graduated from Ava High School in 1953.
Ray was a Farmer and a lifelong resident of the Ava community.
On June 10, 1955 Ray and Alice Hart were united in marriage in Ava, MO and to this union three children were born.
Ray worked hard on the farm. Earlier in his life he worked at Spaldings and Rawlings factories in Ava. Then later he worked at the Tobin and Hamilton Shoe Factory in Mansfield then on to Dayco Industries in Springfield for several years.
He enjoyed his cattle, running his beagles for rabbit hunting, riding fox trotting horses, trail riding with his mules and wagon. Most of all Ray loved spending time and entertaining on the farm at the cabin with all his family and friends. Ray always wanted to spend as much time as he could with the grandkids anytime or any day. Ray was a lifetime member of Missouri Foxtrotting Horsebreed Association. He was a Christian and attended the Ava General Baptist Church.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, Kevin Ray and an infant sister, Fern Marie Brown.
Ray is survived by his wife, Alice Brown, Ava, MO, two daughters, Sandy Murrill and Raydena Hickman and husband, Darrel all of Ava, MO, two grandchildren; Coby Murrill and wife, Bethany and Kami Hickman, four great grandchildren, Cooper, Kimber, Stella and Kora, one brother, Roy Brown & wife, Donna, Ava, MO, half brother, Robert Brown, Springfield, MO and half sister, Mary Davis, Macomb, MO and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Ray will be Thursday, July 2, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO with burial in the Denney Cemetery, Ava. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home. Officiating will be Pastor Oren Alcorn, Pastor Buddy Boyd and Pastor John Williams, Jr. Memorials may be made to the Denney Cemetery.
