Ladonna Sue McKinney

Ladonna Sue (Mears) McKinney was born August 17, 1950 in Norwood, MO to Luther Ray Mears and Esther L. (Elliott) Mears. On May 24, 1981 Ladonna and Daniel McKinney were united in marriage in Ozark County. She passed away on January 7, 2015 at the farm in Dora, MO, at the age of 64 years.

Ladonna was a professional equine and canine trainer, with some of her trained horses going on to new owners in various European countries. Ladonna enjoyed everything outdoors, hiking, fishing, boating, canoeing, swimming, scuba diving, mountain bike riding, sitting on the patio enjoying a beautiful sunset, or watching the blue jays and the squirrels arguing over territory in the old oak tree in the yard, and most of all horseback riding.

Ladonna was preceded in death by her parents, Luther Ray and Esther Mears, her brothers Ronald Eugene Mears and Doyle Ray Mears, and her beloved nephew James Ray Mears.


Ladonna is survived by her husband Daniel McKinney of Dora, MO; her son Pepper Ray Coffman, Licking, MO; her sister Carol Mears, Columbia, MO; her nephew Christopher Mears, Columbia, MO; her niece Leticia Rosenbaum, Bismarck, AR; many great and great, great nieces, great and great, great nephews, and friends.

A Memorial service will be Saturday, February 21, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. at Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO. Ladonna had great love for animals and memorial contributions may be made to the West Plains Regional Animal Shelter.
