LAURIS ACKERMAN SR.
Lauris Laurie Ackerman Sr., 72, former owner and operator of the Cavallero Club in Charleston, SC, died Monday, August 18, 2008 in a hospital in Walterboro, SC.
He was born on April 27, 1936 in Charleston, SC the son of Laurie Lauris Ackerman and Louell Elizabeth Stanley Ackerman. Mr. Ackerman was a well known chef in the hospitality industry. He owned and operated Janet's Kitchen in the North area of Charleston, SC and also restaurants in California and Indiana.
He is survived by his former spouse, Lettie Marie Ackerman of Greenwood, IN; son Lauris Laurie Ackerman Jr. and his wife Michele of Bowling Green, KY; sister Jeri Burke and her husband Frank of North Charleston, SC; brother Bernard Ackerman and his wife Judy of Summerville, SC; two brothers-in-law Curtis Fennel and Cleo Barrs both of Goose Creek, SC; three granddaughters Lauren, Allison and Alyssa Ackerman; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his brothers James Ackerman, Johnny Ackerman, and Robert Ackerman; sisters Linda Fennel, Roberta Griffin and her husband Billy, and Joyce Barrs.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, August 26, 2008, 2:00PM at Price Place Cemetery near Pontiac, Missouri with Dale Roberts officiating. Open visitation will be Tuesday morning 9 – Noon at Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Gainesville, MO. Services are under the direction of Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Gainesville.
