Laverne Karen Farris

Ava, Missouri

Laverne Karen Farris, 79 years, 11 months, 11 days old, passed away on June 4, 2026, at Springfield Villa with her family by her side.

Karen was born June 24, 1946 in Douglas County, Missouri to Clifton Dale and Lela Lynn (Shinpaugh) Davis.

Karen attended Ava schools. After her education she met and married Jim McPherson and they together were blessed with four children, Tammy, Tricia, Jeff, and Michelle. Karen devoted her life to her family raising the children. She later married Dale Farris in Ava, Missouri and they were blessed with one son, Bryan.

Karen was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She was blessed with a large family and was able to be part of six generations of family together at one time.

She loved sewing, creating beautiful floral gardens, and decorating her home.

She was raised in the church and was saved at Basher Church at the age of 14. She was baptized at Cowskin Bridge with all of her family.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Clifton and Grace Davis and Lela and Charles Lynn; her daughter, Tricia (McPherson) Clem; her son-in-law Johnnie Miller; her grandchildren Austin and Chance King; her great-great granddaughter Alaiya Chatman; her brothers, Leroy, Harlan, Harold Davis, and Ronnie Pinckney.

She is survived by her children, Tammy Miller, Jeff McPherson, Michelle McPherson, and Bryan Farris and wife Stacey; grandchildren, Angie Nicol and husband Robert, Matthew Miller, Michael Miller and wife McKale, Anthony Clem and wife Tiffany, Nathan Harris and wife Janelle, Haley Freeman and husband Kaden, and Hayden Farris and wife Ashlie, Keahna McPherson, and Anna Collins; 22 great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter; her siblings, Gerald Davis and wife Linda, Lavonne Kay Carmickle, Linda Presley and husband Roy, Donnie Pinckney; many nieces; nephews; extended family and many friends.

Funeral services for Karen will be on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at 10:00 am at the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, Missouri with burial following in the Ava Cemetery. Visitation will be prior to the service at 9:00 am. Officiating will be Byron Brown.
