Laxie Mary Grote, 101 years, 4 months, and 3 days old, passed to Heaven on November 18, 2014 at Heart of the Ozarks Healthcare, Ava, MO.

Laxie was born July 15, 1913 in Douglas County, Ava, Mo to Marion and Josephine (Graham) Ingram.

Laxie was a lifelong resident of Ava, MO. On October 30, 1934 Laxie and Gilbert Lawrence Grote were united in marriage in Squires, MO. Laxie and Gilbert enjoyed and worked hard on their farm for many years. She and Gilbert made a home for their nephew, Bernel Ingram. She enjoyed taking care of her garden. Her joy was cooking and baking for all her nieces and nephews.

Laxie was a Christian and attended the Murray Church. She loved taking her nieces and nephews to church. Laxie was a special aunt and was very treasured.

Laxie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Gilbert in 1982, six sisters, Alta Amyx, Maggie Ingram, Ola Hambleton, Viva Elliott Riggs, Iva Ingram, Faye Elliott Buck, and one brother, Louis Ingram.


Laxie is survived by her special nephew, Bernel Ingram of the home, several nieces and nephews, caretaker and niece, Vonda Stine and husband, Steve, Ava, MO, several great-nieces and great-nephews and other relatives and friends.


Funeral services for Laxie will be Friday, Nov.21, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO with burial in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Wasola, MO. Visitation will be Friday from 1:00 p.m. to service time in the funeral home. Officiating will be Pastor Marvin Loftin. Memorials may be made to American Heart Assoc. or Oak Grove Cemetery.
