Leon Leroy Lane, 82 years, passed away May 24, 2018 at Cox South Hospital in Springfield, MO with his family around him.

Leon was born August 20, 1935 in Wichita, Kansas to Calbert V. and Minnie (Beary) Lane.

Leon was a retired Foreman for Howard Construction Co. for over 30 years. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and served during the Korean War.

On September 2, 1956 Leon and Ethil Leona Fleetwood were united in marriage at Squires, MO and was blessed with two sons, Marvin and Alvin Dean.

Leon was a Christian and attended the Murray Church with Ethil. He also was member of the Ava VFW Post #5993, and served as a Squires volunteer Fireman from 1982 to 1995. At Spurlock's Store, he was lovingly known as the Mayor of Squires! He enjoyed farming, gardening with specialty in growing tomato's and playing a good game of pitch and telling stories. Leon was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.

Leon was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Alvin in 2017, five brothers, James, Gene, Bill, John, and Harold.

Leon is survived by his wife, Ethil, son, Marvin Lane, three grandchildren, Nina Lane, Kellie Lane and Alvin Brown, four great grandchildren, Anthony, Riley, Alexis, and Wyatt, two sisters, Wanda & Glen Ray, and Barbara & Bill Helms, one brother, Charles Lane, nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Leon will be Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in the Clinkingbeard Chapel, Ava, MO with burial following in the Murray Cemetery with full military honors by the Troy Herd American Legion Post 112. Visitation will be Tuesday from 9:00 a.m.to service time. Officiating will be Pastor Junior Hall. Memorials may be made to the Murray Cemetery.
