Leona Jean Carter, 82 years, 9 months, 25 days old, passed away on February 1, 2019 at her home with her family by her side.
Leona was born April 7, 1936 in Pocahontas, Arkansas to Lesley and Hazel (Johnson) Rose.
Leona was a retired Supervisor for the Vans Janitorial Service in Loves Park, IL. She had worked there for 18 years. She retired in 1998.
On September 10, 1955 Leona and Ralph Carter were united in marriage at Rockford, IL and were blessed with two children, Jeanetta and Duane.
She was a Christian and of the Pentecostal faith. Leona enjoyed crocheting, gardening and most of all being with her family.
Leona was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ralph, a grandson, Ronald Almanza, a great grandson, Benjamin Jimenez, II, and a brother, James R. Johnson.
She is survived by her daughter, Jeanetta Jimenez, Mansfield, MO, a son and wife, Duane & Patti Carter, Belvidere, IL, six grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Cremation services for Leona are being conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO. Memorials may be made to Seasons Hospice, Springfield, MO.
