Leona Hurst, 91 years, passed to heaven on September 15, 2010 at Heart of the Ozarks Healthcare, Ava, MO.

Leona was born March 27, 1919 in Nottinghill, MO to Oscar and Dora (Sievert) Addis.

Leona was a resident of the Ava area most of her life. On July 18, 1940 Leona and Lester Hurst were united in marriage in Hartville, MO and to this union one daughter was born, Carolyn Sue.

She was a Christian and attended the General Baptist Church. She enjoyed crocheting, cooking & canning, attending yard sales, quilting. Her joy was spending time with her family.

Leona was preceded in death by her parents, her stepfather, Nathan Riley, her husband, Lester Hurst in 1970, two brothers, Omar Addis and Lynn Riley.


Leona is survived by a daughter & husband, Carolyn Sue & Al Jenkins, Ava, MO, two grandchildren, Cindy Cottengim & husband, Denver, Mansfield, MO and John Mackey & wife, Michele, Rogers, AR, seven great grandchildren, Mark, Amanda, Holly, Stephanie, Haleigh, Rachel and Alex and one sister, Marie Woolman, Ava, MO and other relatives and friends.


Funeral services for Leona will be Saturday, 10:00 a.m., September 18, 2010, at the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO with burial in the Ava Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to service time in the funeral home. Officiating will be Rev. Oren Alcorn. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Gideons.
