A memorial service for Leonard William McCullough, 61, of Gainesville, will be held at 5 p.m. Oct. 25, 2010, at Mammoth Assembly of God Church, Gainesville, MO.
Mr. McCullough died Oct. 22, 2010, in his home after a long battle with cancer. He was born Nov. 12, 1948, near Isabella, the son of Pleasant William and Rozella (Edwards) McCullough. He married Carolyn Peters on May 26, 1974.
He was a 1967 graduate of Gainesville High School and graduated from School of the Ozarks in 1971 with a bachelor's degree in history.
Mr. McCullough was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. While stationed at Fort Leavenworth, Kan., he served as an honor guard for President Harry S. Truman's memorial.
After being discharged from the army, he taught school in Ozark County for 20 years, also serving as a coach.
Mr. McCullough is survived by his wife, Carolyn; two sons, Steven A.
D. McCullough and wife, Sherri, of Bronson, Texas, and Ronald W.
McCullough and wife, Reina, of Gainesville; one daughter, Misty Sue Gandy and husband, Chris, of Holliser; four brothers, Bob Kelley and wife, Pat, of West Plains, Jim McCullough and wife, Darlene, of Pyatt, Ark., Randy McCullough and wife, Peggy, of Lakeway, Ark., and Michael McCullough and wife, Tabitha, of Isabella; one sister, Josa Eileen Richards of Wasola; six grandchildren, Nicholas, Mylz, Dakota, LeighAnn, Gage, and Allya; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
