Leonard Ralph Potter, 63 years, went home to heaven on September 30, 2009 at Cox Medical Center South, Springfield, MO.

Leonard was born April 27, 1946 in Squires, MO to James Orvil and Effie (Porter) Potter.

On June 10, 1967 Leonard and "Dee" Hensley were united in marriage in Girdner, MO and to this union three children were born. Leonard retired from Hutchens Industries and enjoyed farming. Leonard was a Christian and attended the Girdner Church. He was a member of the Masons and the Shriners. He enjoyed bluegrass festivals, horses and being in the outdoors. He also enjoyed antique cars. Leonard loved his family and was very devoted to them.

Leonard was preceded in death by his parents, Orvil & Effie Potter, his in-laws, Paul and Mavis Hensley and a brother-in-law, Charles Hensley.


Leonard is survived by his wife, Deanna "Dee" Potter, Squires, MO, three sons and their spouses, Jeff & Jayma Potter, Ava, MO, Richard & Molly Potter, Squires, MO and Greg & Lisa Potter, Bradleyville, MO, one daughter, Sherry & Eric Guerin, Bradleyville, MO, thirteen grandchildren, Faron, Blake, Kelly, Marrissa, Ethan, Melanie, Tony, Ricky, Braden, Landon, Cameron, Sonny and Harley, two great grandchildren, Zack and Deija, seven brothers, Edward Potter, Squires, Robert Potter, Ava, MO, Leon Potter, Ava, Ronald Potter, Ava, Donald Potter, Norwood, Paul Potter, Squires, MO and James Potter, Ava, three sisters, Doris Pinckney, Ava, Margie Dobbs, Ava and Pearl McFarlin, Ava, MO, lifelong friend, Bill Springer, Jr., many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and other relatives and friends.


Funeral services for Leonard will be Monday, October 5, 2009, at 10:00 a.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO with burial in the Girdner Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, October 4, 2009 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Officiating will be Brothers Dwight Wilson and Stan Collins. Memorials may be made to Girdner Cemetery, Lymphoma & Leukemia Society or Neighbors Helping Neighbors.
